Key points for selecting dust filter elements under high temperature conditions

In industrial production, high temperature conditions pose severe challenges to dust removal systems. Faced with special environments such as high-temperature flue gas and hot air, ordinary dust filter elements are often unable to cope with them, and scientific selection becomes the key to ensuring dust removal efficiency.

The impact of high temperature environment on filter elements is mainly reflected in two aspects: material tolerance and structural stability. First, high temperature will cause most synthetic fiber filter materials to soften and deform, and common materials such as nylon will begin to lose their filtering performance above 120°C. Secondly, the thermal expansion effect may destroy the sealing structure of the filter element and cause dust leakage. In addition, high temperature is often accompanied by chemically corrosive gases, which further accelerates the aging of the filter element.

The selection of filter elements for high temperature conditions needs to focus on three major factors. Material selection is the primary factor. Glass fiber filter elements can withstand high temperatures of 260°C for a long time, and can resist acid and alkali corrosion after PTFE coating treatment; stainless steel metal fiber filter elements are suitable for extreme environments above 300°C, but the cost is higher. Structural design is also important. High-temperature filter elements need to use special adhesives and reinforced skeletons to prevent structural failure caused by thermal deformation. It is also necessary to pay attention to the sealing performance. In high-temperature conditions, sealing structures with metal flanges or graphite gaskets should be preferred to avoid aging and leakage of rubber seals.

In practical applications, temperature fluctuations are invisible killers that require special attention. Although many filter elements can withstand instantaneous high temperatures, frequent thermal cycles will greatly shorten their service life. It is recommended to reserve a 20% temperature margin when selecting, and consider preheating devices in system design to avoid sudden changes in temperature. At the same time, attention should be paid to the flue gas composition. Corrosive gases such as sulfur and chlorine will synergize with high temperatures to accelerate the degradation of the filter element.

It is worth emphasizing that the maintenance of high-temperature filter elements also requires special treatment. Avoid sudden cooling and heating during cleaning, reduce the backwash pressure appropriately, and check the sealing status regularly. Recording changes in operating temperature and pressure difference can more accurately predict the replacement cycle. With the development of new material technology, new high-temperature filter materials such as silicon carbide and ceramic fiber are breaking through traditional temperature limits and providing solutions for more stringent industrial environments.

Scientific high-temperature filter element selection requires comprehensive consideration of multiple factors such as temperature range, flue gas characteristics, and operating costs. It is recommended that companies work with professional suppliers to conduct operating condition assessments and, if necessary, conduct small-batch trials in order to find the optimal dust removal solution.
