The filtering effect of the air filter element directly affects the air quality and safety of use, but it is often difficult for ordinary users to intuitively evaluate its performance. Mastering scientific judgment methods can help users find problems in time and ensure that the filtering system is always in the best condition.
Observing the use status is the most basic judgment method. Under normal circumstances, high-quality filter elements will not show obvious airflow reduction in the early stage of use. If the airflow decreases in a short period of time after the new filter element is installed, it may be that the density of the filter material is too high or the structural design is unreasonable. After using it for a period of time, if it is found that the dust on the surface of the filter element is unevenly distributed, the local area is seriously accumulated while other areas are relatively clean, it often means that the filtering efficiency has decreased.
Monitoring air quality changes is an intuitive evaluation method. Under the same use environment, the numerical changes before and after the filter element is replaced can be compared with a professional PM2.5 detector. A filter element with good performance should be able to maintain the indoor PM2.5 concentration below 35μg/m³. For deodorization needs, cigarettes or perfumes can be used as test sources to observe the speed and persistence of the filter element in eliminating odors.
Pressure difference changes are professional-level judgment indicators. As the use time increases, dust accumulation in the filter element will cause the resistance to increase. When the pressure difference reaches twice the initial value, even if the appearance is still acceptable, you should consider replacing it. Industrial users can monitor in real time by installing a differential pressure gauge, and ordinary users can feel the change in air volume. When the air volume decreases by more than 30%, the filtration efficiency is usually significantly reduced.
Service life is also an important reference. Although manufacturers will mark the recommended replacement cycle, the actual use environment varies greatly. In areas with severe haze, the actual life of the filter element may be only 60% of the nominal value. It is recommended to make a comprehensive judgment based on the use time and filtration effect, and do not mechanically replace it according to a fixed cycle.
