In the field of water purifiers and air purification, the quality of activated carbon filters directly affects the filtering effect and service life. Among them, high iodine coconut shell activated carbon filters are favored for their excellent durability, which is mainly due to their unique raw material characteristics and production process.
Coconut shell activated carbon uses high-quality coconut shells from Southeast Asia as raw materials. After high-temperature carbonization and activation treatment, it forms a developed microporous structure. Iodine value is a key indicator for measuring the adsorption capacity of activated carbon. The higher the value, the richer the micropores and the larger the adsorption area. Coconut shell activated carbon with high iodine value (usually ≥1000mg/g) has a specific surface area of more than 1500㎡/g, which is equivalent to an adsorption area of the size of a football field compressed in 1 gram of material. This structure can efficiently capture residual chlorine, organic matter in water, and odor molecules in the air.
Compared with coal or wood activated carbon, coconut shell activated carbon has a higher hardness and is not easy to pulverize. During the production of the filter element, the factory will use food-grade adhesives and precision sintering technology to ensure that the carbon particles are firmly bonded and avoid water erosion that causes the structure to loosen. In addition, the ash content of high-quality coconut shell charcoal is less than 5%, which reduces the risk of impurities precipitation and will not pollute the water quality after long-term use.
Actual tests show that under the same conditions of use, the life of high-iodine coconut shell activated carbon filter elements can be extended by 30%-50% compared with ordinary activated carbon. For example, when treating municipal tap water, its chlorine adsorption capacity can reach 1.5 times that of ordinary filter elements. Some high-end products will also use surface modification technology to specifically enhance the adsorption capacity of heavy metals.
As consumers' demand for health increases, more and more water purification equipment manufacturers choose high-iodine coconut shell activated carbon as the core filter material. Its excellent durability not only reduces the frequency of replacement, but also ensures the long-term stability of the filtration effect, becoming a standard option for high-quality water purification systems.
