When driving in high-dust environments such as deserts, construction sites, and mines, air filters are facing severe challenges. Dust is like an "invisible killer". Once the filter is clogged or fails, problems such as reduced engine power, increased fuel consumption, and increased wear will follow. How to make the filter "live" longer in a high-dust environment? Please keep this survival guide!
1. Shorten the replacement cycle
The filter replacement cycle in a normal environment may be 10,000-20,000 kilometers, but in high-dust areas, it is recommended to shorten it to 5,000-8,000 kilometers. Observe the color of the filter. If it turns black or there is obvious dust accumulation, it needs to be replaced immediately.
2. Choose high-density filter media
Ordinary filter elements are difficult to block fine particles. It is recommended to use filter elements with oily coatings or nanofiber materials, which have higher filtration efficiency and can intercept PM2.5 dust.
3. Install a pre-filter device
Install a simple pre-filter (such as a cyclone pre-filter) in front of the air inlet to separate large dust particles in advance and reduce the burden on the main filter element.
4. Regular cleaning and inspection
During each maintenance, use compressed air to blow from the inside of the filter element to the outside to remove surface dust. However, do not wash with water or use a high-pressure air gun to violently clean it to avoid damaging the filter structure.
5. Avoid frequent dusty sections
If conditions permit, try to avoid sections with severe dust, or choose to travel in the early morning/after rain when there is less dust.
